Sunday's Iowa City CBC produced a record 81 species, surpassing our old record of 79 set in 1998. We had 18 waterfowl species, which made the difference between an average count and a great count.

Our biggest miss was Ring-necked Pheasant -- only the second miss in the 61-year history of our count, and the first since 1957. Other notable misses were Sharp-shinned Hawk and Common Grackle.

Thanks to everyone who participated for making this year’s count a success.
