What is a Sydney Prize?
A sidney prize is a contest that rewards people for their work. Prizes can be awarded in many different ways, and the winners can receive a sum of money, an object or a service. Some prizes are sponsored by organizations or individuals, while others are awarded by judges or committees. The amount of the sidney prize may vary, and it can be as low as $50 or as high as $500.

Sydney Prizes are annual literary prizes in memory of a prominent teacher or scholar, and to perpetuate his generative influence on generations of Dartmouth students. Several of the University’s literary prizes have a historical connection to the late Sidney Cox, professor of English from 1927 to 1952. The Sydney Prize is for that undergraduate writing which most nearly meets the high standards of originality and integrity that Cox set for himself and his students.
The Sydney Peace Prize is an annual award given by the City of Sydney to a person or organisation who has contributed to the alleviation of human suffering and advancement of international humanitarian law. The Sydney Peace Prize is supported by the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, which navigates where others cannot, working in volatile and complex humanitarian landscapes to save lives and reduce suffering. It is the second Sydney Peace Prize to be awarded, with previous winners including Black Lives Matter co-founders Patrisse Cullors and Alicia Garza. The Sydney Peace Prize is the only annual international award that combines a cash prize and public recognition. The Laureate is able to use the prize money for further projects that promote the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, specifically its values of neutrality, impartiality and independence.
